    The ninth track on Folklore is called This Is Me Trying. In the November 2020 documentary Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, Swift and producer Jack Antonoff talk about "when you're doing your damn best and it's not good enough." I only learned about all this in March 2024, and it accelerated my plunge (ascent?) into Swiftiehood. The plain, stark black and red on white rendering of THIS IS US TRYING is also Swift-inspired, being based on the shirt she wears when performing the song 22
